Look to the past and the future will appear... Along the path of evolution, there are always stages in which everything seems at a standstill, invented, and in some ways, boring. But if we take a quick look at the past, we can reshape the present, giving it a boost along a route that seems covered by the leaves of time, but which the light of modernity can still take a long way. Mixing past and present has always opened the way for the future, and even when it comes to climbing, it can’t be any other way. We are talking about traditional climbing or better still, clean climbing, as it was called by one of its originators, Yvon Chouinard, who, with the invention of the stopper (nut), brought in a more eco-friendly form of climbing that is freer of invasive elements such as bolts. Climbing that is more about adventure, since it limits the use of equipment and therefore, brings in new rules.
